A quick and flavorful recipe for jumbo shrimp grilled to perfection and tossed in a zesty lemon-garlic Parmesan sauce. Ready in just 10 minutes, this dish features plump shrimp seasoned with herbs and spices, making it a perfect appetizer or entree inspired by Italian and Mediterranean flavors.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Shrimp

  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Lemon-Garlic Sauce

  • 4 large garlic cloves, crushed or minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley (optional)
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)

Topping

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more to your liking

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp: Pat the jumbo shrimp dry with a paper towel. Generously season with kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and toss thoroughly to coat each shrimp evenly.
  2. Make the sauce: In a large bowl, whisk together the crushed garlic, chopped parsley if using, lemon zest and juice, 1/4 cup olive oil, and dried oregano. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to adjust the flavor.
  3. Grill the shrimp: Preheat the grill or indoor griddle to medium-high and lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. Place the shrimp on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and are just cooked through, approximately 5 minutes total depending on size.
  4. Finish and serve: Remove the shrimp from the heat and immediately toss them in the prepared lemon-garlic olive oil mixture. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the shrimp and toss again to coat evenly. Transfer to a serving plate and serve immediately while hot and flavorful.

Notes

  • Use jumbo shrimp for best results as they hold up on the grill and stay juicy.
  • You can substitute fresh oregano for dried if available.
  • The recipe can be adjusted in spiciness by changing the amount of red pepper flakes.
  • Serve with crusty bread or over a bed of pasta for a more substantial meal.
  • Make sure the grill grates are well oiled to prevent shrimp from sticking.
