Ingredients
Chicken & Marinade
- 4 large chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs. total)
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil (plus more to grease the pan)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
BBQ Sauce
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a casserole dish with about one tablespoon of avocado oil to prevent sticking.
- Season Chicken: Place the chicken breasts into a large Ziploc bag. Add one tablespoon of avocado oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground white pepper, and kosher salt. Seal the bag and shake well to evenly coat all the chicken pieces with the oil and spices.
- Arrange and Sauce Chicken: Transfer the seasoned chicken breasts into the greased casserole dish. Brush each breast generously with half of the BBQ sauce, ensuring an even coating on all sides.
- Bake and Flip: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, carefully flip the chicken breasts, brush with the remaining BBQ sauce, and return to the oven.
- Finish Baking: Continue baking for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) to ensure it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
- Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm with any leftover BBQ sauce for dipping or drizzling.
Notes
- Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
- You can substitute avocado oil with olive oil or another neutral oil if preferred.
- Use your favorite BBQ sauce, whether store-bought or homemade, for personalized flavor.
- For a smokier flavor, consider using smoked sea salt instead of regular kosher salt.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
