Ingredients
Cauliflower
- 1 medium head of cauliflower
Batter
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup water
- 1 dash Frank’s Wing Sauce or Frank’s Original Hot Sauce
- ¼ teaspoon garlic salt or garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon dried onion or onion powder
Buffalo Sauce
- ¼ cup Frank’s Wing Sauce
- 3 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the cauliflower bites to a crispy finish.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, then spray it lightly with olive oil or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Cut Cauliflower: Wash the head of cauliflower thoroughly and cut it into similar-sized bite pieces. Pat dry if necessary to help the batter stick well.
- Make Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, water, a dash of Frank’s Wing Sauce, garlic salt, and dried onion powder until the batter is thick and smooth.
- Coat Cauliflower: Using tongs, dip each cauliflower piece into the batter, ensuring it is fully and evenly coated. Allow excess batter to drip off and place the coated pieces on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer to ensure even cooking.
- First Bake: Bake the battered cauliflower for about 15 minutes until the batter just hardens and starts to become crispy.
- Prepare Buffalo Sauce: While the cauliflower bakes, mix the buffalo sauce by combining Frank’s Wing Sauce, melted salted butter, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until well blended.
- Brush with Sauce: Remove the cauliflower from the oven and brush each piece generously with the prepared buffalo sauce, ensuring full coverage for maximum flavor.
- Final Bake: Return the coated cauliflower to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the sauce hardens slightly and the cauliflower becomes crisp.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the bites cool for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy your spicy baked buffalo cauliflower bites!
Notes
- You can adjust the spiciness by adding more or less Frank’s Wing Sauce to the batter and buffalo sauce.
- For a gluten-free option, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
- Make sure to cut the cauliflower into uniform pieces for even cooking.
- These bites are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven to retain crispiness.
- Use parchment or silicone mats to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
