Brazilian Lemonade is a vibrant, creamy, and tangy drink made by blending whole limes with water, sugar, and sweetened condensed milk, then served ice-cold for the ultimate refreshing treat. Despite its name, this Brazilian favorite is made with limes and has a unique sweet-tart flavor that’s irresistibly delicious and always crowd-pleasing.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups cold water (preferably filtered or purified)
  • 5 limes, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Creamy Addition

  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (or more to taste)

For Serving

  • Ice, as needed
  • Fresh lime slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend the base: In a blender, combine the cold water, lime wedges (with skins), and granulated sugar. Blend on high speed until the limes are fully broken down and the mixture appears smooth and frothy.
  2. Strain out solids: Position a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl. Pour the blended mixture through the strainer to remove the pulp, zest, and lime skins, collecting the flavored liquid in the bowl below. Discard the leftover solids.
  3. Rinse and blend again: Rinse out the blender pitcher to remove any pulp. Pour the strained lime juice mixture back into the blender, add the sweetened condensed milk, and blend again until everything is well combined and frothy.
  4. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the creamy Brazilian lemonade over the ice and garnish with fresh lime slices, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Filtered Water: For the best clean, refreshing taste, use filtered or purified water instead of tap water.
  • Whole Limes: Blend the entire lime wedges (skin and all) to get the maximum flavor, and strain afterward for a smooth drink.
  • Customize Sweetness: Adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk to your preferred sweetness and creaminess.
  • Serve Fresh: This drink is best enjoyed immediately, as the limes can become bitter if left to sit too long after blending.
  • Lime Substitute: For an American twist, you can swap limes for lemons, but the flavor will differ slightly.
