Enjoy all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger without the bun with these easy, customizable burger bowls. Featuring seasoned ground beef, a tangy special sauce, and your favorite toppings like lettuce, cheese, fries, and avocado, these low-carb and gluten-free bowls come together quickly for a delicious meal.

  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

For the Ground Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef, or ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Special Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickle juice
  • 2 tablespoons relish, dill or sweet
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Kosher salt and black pepper to taste

For the Bowls:

  • Shredded lettuce
  • French fries or sweet potato fries
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Tomatoes, sliced
  • Pickles, sliced
  • Red onion slices
  • Avocado slices

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef along with kosher salt, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper. Cook the meat until it is fully browned and crumbled, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease if necessary to keep the meat from being too oily.
  2. Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, dill pickle juice, relish, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Assemble the Burger Bowls: Start by placing a generous layer of shredded lettuce in each bowl as the base. Add the cooked ground beef on top, followed by your preferred toppings such as shredded cheddar cheese, tomato slices, pickles, red onion slices, avocado slices, and a handful of French fries or sweet potato fries. Drizzle the special sauce generously over the bowl and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Customize your toppings based on preference; other great additions include jalapeños or sautéed mushrooms.
  • For a dairy-free version, omit the cheese or use dairy-free alternatives.
  • Leftover cooked beef can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
  • If you want to make this recipe keto-friendly, use low-carb fries or omit fries entirely.
