Ingredients
Main Sauce Ingredients
- 1 stick butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced or grated
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 Tablespoons Cajun seasoning (homemade or storebought)
- 1 Tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
Homemade Cajun Seasoning
- 3 Tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 Tablespoon onion powder
- 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
Instructions
- Melt Butter and Cook Garlic: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the minced or grated garlic to the melted butter and cook gently for 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the remaining butter, minced fresh parsley, lemon juice, and Cajun seasoning to the saucepan. Whisk all ingredients together to combine thoroughly.
- Simmer the Sauce: Continue cooking the mixture over low heat while stirring frequently for about 5 minutes. This allows the flavors to blend, and the butter to fully melt into a smooth, rich sauce.
- Prepare Homemade Cajun Seasoning (Optional): In a separate bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt, ground white pepper, ground mustard, dried oregano, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, and dried basil. Use 2 tablespoons for the sauce and save the remaining seasoning for other recipes.
- Serve: Once the sauce is ready, remove it from the heat and serve warm. Ideal for drizzling over grilled or baked seafood, chicken, steaks, or as a dipping sauce with your favorite dishes.
Notes
- This sauce is best served warm and can be reheated gently on low heat to avoid breaking the butter.
- Adjust the cayenne pepper in the Cajun seasoning for more or less heat according to your taste.
- The homemade Cajun seasoning recipe yields more seasoning than needed for the sauce; store the excess in an airtight container for future use.
- Use fresh minced garlic for best flavor but garlic powder can be substituted if preferred.
- This sauce pairs exceptionally well with seafood boils, providing a zesty and buttery complement.
