Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 regular sized roll (make your own or store-bought)
- 1 bread bowl (make your own or store-bought)
- 2 regular chocolate chips (for the eyes)
- 1 pink candy (for the nose)
- Fresh parsley (optional, for Easter grass garnish)
Other Supplies
- 5 toothpicks
- Knife and kitchen scissors
Instructions
- Prepare the smaller roll base: Cut 1/4 off the bottom of the smaller roll, leaving a small back section attached to serve as a stable base that can hang off the back of the bread bowl. Set aside.
- Shape the bread bowl: Cut a small U-shaped section from the top of the bread bowl to create a ledge where the smaller roll will sit.
- Remove bread insides: Carefully dig out the inside of the bread bowl in one large piece if possible to use for the bunny’s tail later. The remaining bread can be saved for dipping or eating.
- Create bunny ears: Cut out two ears from the top removed section of the bread bowl. Trim the inside edges of the ears with scissors or a knife to make them flatter and more ear-like.
- Add facial features: Use a knife to slice a small hole for the nose on the bunny head piece and insert the pink candy nose. Make small holes for the eyes and gently insert the chocolate chip eyes.
- Attach the head to the bread bowl: Place the bunny head on the bread bowl ledge and secure with three toothpicks to keep it in place.
- Attach the ears: Insert two toothpicks into the bottom of the ears and then stick the ears into the top of the smaller roll to form the bunny’s ears.
- Form the tail: Take a small piece of the bread removed from inside the bowl and roll it into a ball to create the bunny’s tail, and attach it to the bread bowl.
- Garnish and serve: Arrange fresh parsley around the bread bowl on the serving plate to resemble Easter grass for a festive presentation.
- Storage: Store the completed Easter Bunny Bread Bowl in an airtight bag to keep fresh until ready to serve. Can be made in advance.
Notes
- Use fresh bread rolls and bowls for best structural integrity and taste.
- You can substitute chocolate chips and candy nose with other edible decorations as preferred.
- The bread insides removed can be saved and served as a companion to the soup.
- Be gentle when inserting toothpicks to avoid breaking the bread structure.
- Keep the bread bowl covered or in an airtight bag to prevent drying out before serving.
