Garlic and Paprika Chicken features crispy, juicy, and tender chicken drumsticks baked to perfection with a flavorful garlic and smoked paprika sauce. This easy bake recipe combines fragrant herbs and spices for a deliciously smoky, mildly spicy, and aromatic chicken dinner option perfect for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 12 chicken drumsticks

Sauce & Seasoning

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it’s fully heated by the time you finish preparing the chicken.
  2. Prepare Garlic and Spice Mixture: In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, parsley, and oregano. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, being careful not to burn the garlic, which will impart bitterness.
  3. Season the Chicken: Thoroughly clean and pat dry the chicken drumsticks with paper towels. Season all sides with salt and black pepper according to taste to enhance flavor and promote crispiness.
  4. Coat the Drumsticks: Pour the warm olive oil and spice mixture over the seasoned drumsticks. Use your hands or a brush to ensure each drumstick is evenly coated with the flavorful sauce.
  5. Arrange and Bake: Place the coated drumsticks evenly spaced in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. Serve: Once cooked, remove from the oven and serve alongside your favorite side dishes or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • If you can’t find smoked paprika, regular paprika works as a suitable substitute.
  • This spice blend is versatile and can be used on other chicken cuts such as breasts or leg quarters; cooking time remains similar.
  • Patting the chicken dry before seasoning removes excess moisture, resulting in crispier skin.
  • Do not burn the garlic; cook it only about 1 minute to avoid bitterness.
  • Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure drumsticks reach a safe internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. Reheat in microwave or oven before serving.
