These Greek Burgers blend juicy ground beef with fresh baby spinach, tangy feta cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes for a Mediterranean twist on a classic favorite. Enhanced with sliced tomato, shallots, and creamy tzatziki sauce, they offer a flavorful and satisfying meal perfect for any grill or stovetop cookout.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Burger Patties

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 ounces fresh baby spinach leaves, chopped
  • 2 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt

For Serving

  • Sandwich buns
  • Fresh baby spinach leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced shallot
  • Tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Make Burger Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped baby spinach, crumbled feta cheese, chopped sun-dried tomatoes, egg, and table salt. Mix thoroughly until evenly incorporated. Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties. Place them in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up and allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Toast Buns: Heat a pan over medium heat or prepare a grill. Lightly drizzle the inside faces of the sandwich buns with cooking oil. Place the buns face down on the heated pan or grill and toast for a few minutes until golden and crisp. Remove and set aside on a serving plate.
  3. Cook Burger Patties: Increase stove heat to medium-high (or medium if you want to reduce smoke). Drizzle some cooking oil in the pan. Cook the patties in batches, placing them onto the hot pan. Cook each side until well charred and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C), flipping occasionally. Add more oil to the pan as needed to prevent sticking and burning.
  4. Serve: Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on toasted buns. Top with fresh baby spinach leaves, sliced tomato, sliced shallot, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use good-quality ground beef with a moderate fat content (around 80/20) for juicier burgers.
  • Note 4: Sandwich buns can be any type you prefer, such as brioche, whole wheat, or classic hamburger buns.
  • Note 5: Tzatziki sauce enhances the Greek flavor profile and can be homemade or store-bought.
  • For best results, refrigerate patties before cooking to help them hold together while cooking.
  • Make sure to cook burgers to a safe internal temperature of 160°F to ensure food safety.
