Ingredients
Salmon
- 4 Salmon fillets (6 oz each)
Miso Butter Mixture
- 6 tbsp Unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 tbsp White miso paste
- 1 tbsp Brown sugar
- 2 tsp Fresh ginger (grated)
- 1-2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp Green onions (sliced thin)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Serving Suggestions
- Steamed rice (optional)
- Steamed vegetables (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Miso Butter: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, white miso paste, brown sugar, freshly grated ginger, minced garlic, and sliced green onions. Use a spatula to thoroughly mix and mash together until fully incorporated and smooth.
- Spread Butter on Salmon: Divide the prepared miso butter equally across each salmon fillet. Using a butter knife or offset spatula, spread the butter evenly over the entire surface of each piece of salmon to ensure full coverage.
- Choose Cooking Method – Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the salmon fillets in a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish. Bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish turns opaque and is almost cooked through. Then switch to the broiler setting and broil on high for 1 to 2 minutes, allowing the miso butter topping to caramelize and form a flavorful crust.
- Choose Cooking Method – Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C). Line the basket with parchment paper or foil to prevent sticking. Arrange the salmon fillets in the basket in a single layer without overlapping. Cook for 9 to 10 minutes; do not flip the fillets to keep the miso butter topping intact.
- Serve: Carefully transfer the cooked salmon fillets onto a serving platter. Drizzle any remaining miso butter mixture on top for extra richness. Garnish with additional sliced green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired. Serve alongside steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
Notes
- Ensure the butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
- Adjust the amount of garlic and ginger to taste if you prefer a milder or stronger flavor.
- When broiling, watch the salmon closely to prevent burning.
- If air frying, do not overcrowd the basket to ensure even cooking.
- This dish pairs beautifully with steamed jasmine rice and sautéed or steamed green vegetables.
- You can substitute white miso with yellow miso for a milder flavor if preferred.
