Ingredients
Sweet Potato Fries
- 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin strips about 1/2 inch thick, patted dry with paper towels
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1.5 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
Garnish
- 2-3 fresh basil leaves or parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Tray: Line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
- Arrange Sweet Potatoes: Place the peeled and cut sweet potato strips on the tray, spreading them out in a single layer for optimal crispiness.
- Coat with Olive Oil: Drizzle the olive oil over the sweet potatoes and toss well until each fry is fully coated with oil.
- Add Seasonings: Sprinkle cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, and black pepper over the fries. Toss again thoroughly so that the spices and cornstarch evenly coat all fries.
- Spread Fries Evenly: Arrange the fries back in a single layer on the parchment-lined tray, spacing them out to avoid overcrowding.
- Bake: Bake the fries in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 to 25 minutes. Halfway through baking, toss the fries to ensure even cooking and browning. The fries are done when they are tender inside and crispy and golden brown outside.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the fries from the oven, sprinkle with salt to taste, and garnish with finely chopped basil or parsley. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure sweet potato strips are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
- Patt the sweet potatoes dry to avoid sogginess and promote crispiness.
- Tossing the fries halfway through baking helps achieve even browning.
- For extra crispiness, avoid overcrowding the tray; use two trays if necessary.
- Customize seasoning to taste by adjusting chili powder or adding other herbs.
