Ingredients
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 lb asparagus stalks, trimmed and cut into 1-2 inch pieces
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped parsley (can also use green onions or fresh dill)
Instructions
- Melt the Butter: Melt the butter in a large pan over medium-high heat until fully melted and starting to sizzle gently.
- Cook the Asparagus: Add the cut asparagus pieces to the pan and sauté for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the asparagus is just tender but still crisp.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in the minced garlic, dried Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper. Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes more, stirring constantly to avoid burning the garlic and to evenly coat the asparagus in spices.
- Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle the chopped parsley over the asparagus, toss lightly, and serve immediately as a delicious side dish.
Notes
- Trim the tough ends off the asparagus before cooking for best texture.
- You can substitute fresh dill or green onions for parsley depending on your flavor preference.
- For a vegan version, substitute butter with olive oil or a plant-based margarine.
- The dish is best served immediately to enjoy the crisp-tender texture of asparagus.
- Adjust seasoning to taste; adding lemon zest or a squeeze of lemon juice can brighten the flavor.
