Vanilla Milk Tea is a simple and delightful beverage combining the rich flavors of black tea and pure vanilla extract with sweetened tapioca pearls. Perfect served hot or iced, this refreshing drink is customizable with your choice of milk and sweetener, offering a comforting treat that is easy to prepare at home in just 15 minutes.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 bags black tea
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Tapioca Pearls

  • ½ cup cooked tapioca pearls
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or sweetener of choice (e.g., agave syrup)

To Serve

  • Ice cubes as needed
  • 1 cup milk of choice (almond milk recommended)

Instructions

  1. Steep the tea: Steep the tea bags in a cup of hot water for 3-5 minutes to extract the rich black tea flavor. Remove the tea bags and stir in the pure vanilla extract. Set the tea aside to cool completely.
  2. Prepare the tapioca pearls: Cook the tapioca pearls according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and rinse them under cold water to halt further cooking. Transfer the pearls into a bowl and stir in the maple syrup or your preferred sweetener to infuse them with sweetness.
  3. Assemble the drink: Divide the sweetened tapioca pearls between serving glasses. Add ice cubes, then pour the cooled vanilla-infused tea over the pearls. Finally, add the milk of your choice. Stir gently to combine all the flavors and enjoy your vanilla milk tea either iced or hot.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free option, use plant-based milk like almond, oat, or soy milk.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup or using other sweeteners such as honey or agave syrup.
  • To serve hot, omit the ice and enjoy the tea warm after steeping and mixing.
  • If tapioca pearls are not readily available, you can skip them and enjoy a creamy vanilla milk tea.
  • Steeping time can be adjusted to make the tea stronger or milder according to taste.
