To Prepare One Serving of Hot Cocoa
- 2-3 tablespoons dry hot cocoa mix (from above)
- 1 cup creamy non-dairy milk (such as almond, oat, soy, or coconut milk)
- Optional toppings: vegan marshmallows, vegan whipped cream, or a cinnamon stick
Instructions
- Make the Dry Mix: Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and any optional spices or flavorings into a high-speed blender. Process on high for about 30 seconds until the mixture is smooth and fluffy. Transfer the dry mix into a sealable glass jar for storage.
- Store the Mix: Keep the dry hot chocolate mix sealed at room temperature for up to two months to maintain freshness and flavor.
- Prepare One Serving of Hot Cocoa: Scoop 2 to 3 tablespoons of the dry mix into the bottom of a mug, adjusting the amount to your preferred cocoa richness. Warm 1 cup of non-dairy milk on the stovetop or microwave until hot but not boiling.
- Combine and Stir: Pour the hot non-dairy milk over the cocoa mix in the mug. Stir thoroughly with a spoon or a handheld milk frother until the mixture is completely dissolved and frothy.
- Serve with Toppings: Add optional toppings such as vegan marshmallows, plant-based whipped cream, or a cinnamon stick for extra flavor and presentation. Enjoy warm.
