Ingredients
Spinach
- 9 – 10 ounces Frozen Spinach (thawed)
Dairy
- 1 (8-ounce) package Cream Cheese (softened)
- 1 cup Sour Cream
Seasoning and Crunch
- 1 ounce Dry Ranch Dressing Powder
- 8 ounces Water Chestnuts (chopped)
Instructions
- Thaw and Drain Spinach: Let the frozen spinach thaw naturally or run it under hot water until fully thawed. To avoid a watery dip, place the thawed spinach in a colander over the sink and squeeze it with your hands multiple times to remove excess moisture. For extra dryness, use a paper towel to blot any remaining water.
- Mix Ingredients: Transfer the thoroughly drained spinach into a mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and dry ranch dressing powder. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Fold in Water Chestnuts: Gently fold the drained, chopped water chestnuts into the creamy spinach mixture to add crunch and texture.
- Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour or until fully chilled before serving. This will help the flavors meld and the dip to firm up slightly.
Notes
- Ensure the spinach is very well drained to prevent a watery dip.
- Use softened cream cheese for easy mixing and smoother texture.
- For a thicker dip, you can add a little more cream cheese or reduce the sour cream.
- This dip pairs wonderfully with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables like carrots and celery.
- Prepare the dip a day ahead to let flavors develop even better.
