Ingredients
For the Sliders
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ cup yellow onion, minced
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 24 pack Hawaiian Rolls
- Sliced dill pickles, as desired
- 8 slices cheddar cheese (for layering)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
For the Burger Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- ¼ cup sweet relish
- 1 teaspoon vinegar (or fresh lemon juice)
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Baking Pan: Spray a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray and set aside to prevent sticking.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks to ensure even browning.
- Add Onion: While the beef cooks, add the minced yellow onion into the skillet mixing it with the meat to soften and blend flavors.
- Drain Fat: Once the ground beef is fully cooked and no longer pink, drain any excess grease and remove from heat.
- Season Meat: Stir in salt, black pepper, and garlic powder thoroughly to season the meat mixture well.
- Mix in Cheese and Mayo: Combine the shredded cheddar cheese and mayonnaise into the seasoned beef mixture to create a creamy texture.
- Slice Rolls: Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally to create top and bottom buns for each slider.
- Assemble Bottom Layer: Arrange the bottom halves of the rolls evenly in the prepared baking pan.
- Layer Sliders: Spread the beef mixture over the bottom buns, then layer with slices of cheddar cheese and pickles.
- Add Burger Sauce: Drizzle the prepared burger sauce generously over the layered ingredients.
- Top the Sliders: Place the top halves of the buns onto each slider to complete the assembly.
- Butter and Sesame Seeds: Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over them for added flavor and texture.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Notes
- Use freshly minced onion for best flavor and texture in the meat mixture.
- If you prefer spicy sliders, add some chili powder or hot sauce to the beef mixture or burger sauce.
- Make sure to drain excess grease from the cooked meat to avoid soggy buns.
- The burger sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Serve warm for the best cheesy, melty slider experience.
