Ingredients
Ingredients
- 6 ounces dried mango slices
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons neutral oil (such as olive oil or shortening)
Instructions
- Set Up Double Boiler: Fill a small pot halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to a simmer and place a clean, dry bowl over the pot. Ensure the bowl’s bottom is elevated 3-4 inches above the water and fits securely.
- Melt Chocolate: Add the mini chocolate chips and neutral oil into the bowl. Let sit for a few minutes to partially melt, then stir continuously with a spoon or spatula until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
- Prepare Mango Slices: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Separate the dried mango slices evenly on the parchment. Use clean food prep gloves while handling to maintain hygiene.
- Dip Mango Slices: Hold one end of a mango slice and dip the other end into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. Then place the dipped slice onto the prepared parchment paper.
- Repeat Dipping Process: Continue dipping the remaining mango slices into the melted chocolate until all slices or the chocolate is used up.
- Cool to Firm Up: Transfer the baking sheet with chocolate-dipped mango slices to the freezer for 30 minutes or place in the refrigerator for about an hour to allow the chocolate to solidify again.
- Serve or Store: Enjoy the chocolate dipped mango immediately after cooling or store them in an airtight container inside the refrigerator for future enjoyment.
Notes
- Using a double boiler helps prevent the chocolate from burning by gently melting it over simmering water.
- Make sure to use clean and dry utensils and bowls for melting chocolate to avoid seizing.
- The neutral oil adds smoothness and shine to the melted chocolate but can be substituted or omitted if preferred.
- Dried mango slices vary in thickness and sweetness; select quality slices for the best texture and flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent moisture from affecting the chocolate coating.
