Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 5 perfectly ripe Hass Avocados
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon or lime juice
- 2 medium garlic cloves, peeled and pressed or finely diced and mashed with a pinch of salt
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
Fresh Salsa Add-ins (Optional)
- 1 small ripe tomato, chopped fine
- 1/2 medium white onion, chopped fine
- 1/2 bunch cilantro, finely chopped (or to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and score the flesh inside the skins. Then, scoop the avocado flesh into a mixing bowl.
- Prevent Browning: Immediately mix the fresh lemon or lime juice into the avocado to prevent it from browning and to add a bright citrus flavor.
- Mash the Avocado: Using a fork or a masher, mash the avocado to your preferred consistency, whether smooth or chunky.
- Add Garlic and Salt: Add the pressed or finely diced garlic along with kosher salt to the mashed avocado, stirring well to combine all the base flavors.
- Mix in Fresh Salsa Ingredients: If using, add the finely chopped tomato, onion, and cilantro to the avocado mixture. Stir gently to combine everything evenly.
- Serve Immediately: Enjoy the guacamole right away for the best freshness and flavor. Serve with tortilla chips, as a topping for tacos, or alongside your favorite Mexican dishes.
Notes
- Use ripe Hass avocados for the best creamy texture and rich flavor.
- Adjust the amount of lemon or lime juice to your taste to balance freshness and acidity.
- Garlic can be adjusted or omitted if you prefer a milder flavor.
- Add fresh salsa ingredients only if you like extra texture and flavor in your guacamole.
- Serve immediately to avoid browning; if needed, cover tightly with plastic wrap touching the surface of the guacamole to minimize air exposure.
