Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 2 lbs cube steak
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 (10.5 oz) can golden mushroom soup
- 2 (.87 oz) packets brown gravy mix, dry mix only
- 1 (1 oz) packet onion soup mix, dry mix only
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Prepare Crockpot: Grease a 7-quart crockpot with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and easy cleanup.
- Layer Onions: Place half of the sliced onions evenly at the bottom of the crockpot to create a flavorful base.
- Arrange Cube Steak: Lay the cube steak pieces on top of the onion layer evenly.
- Season Steak: Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper evenly over the cube steak for enhanced flavor.
- Add Remaining Onions: Spread the remaining sliced onions on top of the seasoned steak to add moisture and sweetness during cooking.
- Mix Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the golden mushroom soup, dry brown gravy mix packets, dry onion soup mix packet, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Pour Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the steak and onions in the crockpot, ensuring the steak is well covered.
- Cook: Cover with the crockpot lid and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 5 to 6 hours, until the steak is fork-tender and the flavors have melded beautifully.
- Serve: Once cooked, serve the cube steak immediately alongside mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, or your preferred vegetables for a complete hearty meal.
Notes
- For best tenderness, cook cube steak on the low setting.
- You can substitute golden mushroom soup with cream of mushroom soup for a different flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to taste if you prefer more or less spice.
- Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This recipe can be doubled for a larger crowd, just use a bigger crockpot.
