Ingredients
Bread
- 1 loaf French bread
Garlic Butter Spread
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 4 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Topping
- 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400℉ (204℃) to ensure it’s hot enough to crisp the bread and melt the cheese.
- Prepare baking sheet: Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil to catch any drips and make cleanup easier, then set aside.
- Cut bread: Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise and place the halves cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Make garlic butter: In a small mixing bowl, combine softened butter with minced garlic and Italian seasoning, mixing well to create a flavorful spread.
- Spread garlic butter: Evenly spread half of the garlic butter mixture onto each half of the bread, ensuring full coverage for maximum flavor.
- Add cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Mozzarella cheese evenly over each bread half, covering the garlic butter layer.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and starts turning golden brown.
- Slice and serve: Remove the bread from the oven, let cool slightly, then cut into slices and serve warm for the best taste.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, place the bread under the broiler for 1-2 minutes after baking, but watch carefully to avoid burning.
- You can substitute Mozzarella with other cheeses like cheddar or Parmesan for different flavors.
- Adding chopped fresh parsley or basil after baking adds a fresh touch and color.
- For a vegan version, use vegan butter and dairy-free cheese alternatives.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
