Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 tsp Crisco (vegetable shortening)
- Fresh Strawberries (washed and fully dried)
Instructions
- Chill Strawberries: Keep the strawberries in the refrigerator until you are ready to dip them. This ensures they are nice and cold, which helps the chocolate set better.
- Melt Chocolate: Combine the chocolate chips and Crisco in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for about 40 seconds, then stir thoroughly. If the chocolate isn’t completely melted, microwave it again for an additional 10 seconds and stir until smooth.
- Prepare Strawberries: Make sure the strawberries are washed thoroughly and completely dried, as any water can cause the chocolate to seize and not stick properly.
- Dip Strawberries: Holding each strawberry by the stem, dip it into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Set Chocolate: Place the dipped strawberries on wax paper to dry and allow the chocolate to set, or enjoy them immediately for a softer chocolate coating.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry to prevent chocolate from seizing.
- Using Crisco helps the chocolate melt smoothly and sets with a nice shine.
- You can use dark, milk, or white chocolate chips depending on preference.
- Store chocolate covered strawberries in a cool place or refrigerate to keep them fresh longer.
