Ingredients
Chicken and Coating
- 1 1/2 lbs. Chicken Breast (cut into bite-size pieces)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 cup Cornstarch
Sauce and Cooking
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 3 Garlic Cloves (minced)
- 1/3 cup Honey
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
Garnish
- Fresh Oregano or Italian Parsley (chopped for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder evenly. Place the cornstarch in a bowl and toss the chicken pieces in it until they are fully coated.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, add the coated chicken pieces and cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add butter, minced garlic, honey, fresh lemon juice, and soy sauce. Stir to combine and cook for about 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken. For a thicker sauce, remove the chicken from the skillet and continue cooking the sauce alone for 5 minutes before returning the chicken to the pan to toss.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped oregano or Italian parsley over the finished honey chicken. Optionally, drizzle a little more honey on top before serving for added sweetness.
Notes
- Make sure to pat the chicken dry before coating to ensure a crispy texture.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best bright flavor in the sauce.
- Adjust the thickness of the sauce by cooking it longer or shorter as desired.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
