Ingredients
Salmon
- 4 (6 oz) salmon fillets
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- Garnish: sliced green onions
- Garnish: sesame seeds
Hot Honey Glaze
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Salmon: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow the salmon fillets to come to room temperature. Pat the fillets dry using paper towels, then arrange them skin side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil lightly sprayed with nonstick spray.
- Season the Salmon: Brush each salmon fillet evenly with olive oil. Season them with salt, black pepper, paprika, and chili powder. Set aside while you prepare the glaze.
- Make the Hot Honey Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine honey, low sodium soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until the glaze thickens slightly.
- Glaze the Salmon: Spoon half of the hot honey glaze over the salmon fillets, reserving the rest for later.
- Bake the Salmon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes. About halfway through the baking time, brush the salmon with the remaining glaze. The salmon is done when it becomes opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and brush it with any leftover glaze. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful hot honey glazed salmon!
Notes
- You can adjust the red pepper flakes to control the level of spiciness in the glaze.
- Letting salmon come to room temperature before cooking ensures even cooking.
- Using low sodium soy sauce helps keep the sodium levels moderate.
- For extra crispy skin, broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes but watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Leftover glaze can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
