Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (1 ounce) packet taco seasoning
- 1 cup chunky salsa
- 12 hard taco shells
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional Toppings
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 6 ounces canned olives, sliced
- 1 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400℉ to prepare for baking the assembled tacos.
- Cook Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the meat is thoroughly browned and onions are softened, then drain off excess grease to ensure a less oily filling.
- Add Beans and Seasoning: Stir in the drained black beans, taco seasoning packet, and chunky salsa. Cook the mixture for several minutes, allowing the flavors to combine and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Assemble Tacos: Arrange the hard taco shells upright in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Fill each shell with a generous scoop of the beef mixture, pressing down gently to pack the filling into the shell. Repeat until all shells are filled, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of each taco.
- Bake Tacos: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly, ensuring warm and cheesy tacos.
- Serve with Toppings: Remove tacos from the oven and serve immediately. Offer optional toppings such as diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced olives, sour cream, guacamole, and hot sauce, allowing everyone to customize their tacos to taste.
Notes
- Drain excess grease from the cooked ground beef to prevent soggy tacos.
- Feel free to add guacamole and hot sauce as additional toppings for extra flavor.
- If preferred, substitute cheddar cheese for a Mexican cheese blend for more variety.
- Use fresh black beans instead of canned for a fresher taste and lower sodium.
- Hard taco shells can be warmed in the oven briefly before filling for added crunchiness.
