A tangy and sweet passion fruit sauce, perfect as a topping or drizzle for desserts, made by simmering fresh passion fruit pulp with sugar and optionally brightened with lemon juice.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 1 cup of sauce

Ingredients

Passion Fruit Sauce

  • 1 ½ cup fresh passion fruit pulp (about 810 passion fruits)
  • ½ cup (100 g) caster sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 12 tsp lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the passion fruit pulp and sugar to a small saucepan set over medium heat.
  2. Dissolve Sugar: Stir gently until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer.
  3. Simmer: Cook for 10 – 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce slightly thickens.
  4. Cool: Remove from the heat and allow the sauce to cool completely.
  5. Adjust Flavor: Taste the sauce and add lemon juice if needed to enhance brightness and balance the sweetness.
  6. Strain: Strain the sauce through a fine sieve to remove some or all of the seeds, or leave them in for a rustic texture.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to taste.
  • Lemon juice is optional but recommended to balance the tartness and enhance flavor.
  • Can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • Use as a topping for ice cream, pancakes, yogurt, or desserts.
  • Leaving seeds in adds texture and visual appeal.
