Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 (15-ounce) cans white beans, drained and rinsed
- ¾ cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano, divided
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Toppings
- 1 small tomato, sliced (optional)
- ¼ small green pepper, sliced
- 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Fresh basil, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare it for baking the dish.
- Prepare Beans Mixture: In a 10-inch baking dish or oven-safe skillet, add the drained and rinsed white beans. Stir in the marinara sauce, ½ teaspoon of dried oregano, and garlic powder to evenly coat the beans with the sauce and seasoning.
- Layer Ingredients: Spread the seasoned beans mixture evenly in the dish. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese. Arrange the sliced tomato, green pepper, and black olives evenly over the cheese. Sprinkle the remaining ½ teaspoon of oregano and crushed red pepper flakes on top to add an extra layer of flavor.
- Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the sauce is bubbling and the cheese has melted to a golden, gooey consistency.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve the pizza beans warm, ideally accompanied by crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
