Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Wet Ingredients
- 4 large eggs (lightly beaten)
- 1 can pure pumpkin (15 oz, not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup Nutella
- 3 tablespoons milk
Frosting
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking, then set it aside.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, baking soda, and ground cloves until well combined.
- Add wet ingredients: Add the lightly beaten eggs, pure pumpkin, and vegetable oil to the dry mixture. Mix on medium speed until everything is fully combined and smooth.
- Pour batter into pan: Transfer the batter evenly into the prepared pan, spreading it out with a spatula for uniform thickness.
- Bake the bars: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the bars: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the pumpkin bars to cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
- Prepare the Nutella frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, Nutella, and milk until light and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, continuing to beat until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.
- Frost and serve: Spread or pipe the Nutella frosting evenly over the cooled pumpkin bars. Cut into squares and serve fresh for the best taste.
Notes
- Use pure pumpkin (canned pumpkin) and not pumpkin pie filling to avoid added spices and sugars.
- Ensure the pumpkin bars are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting the frosting.
- You can substitute Nutella with any chocolate-hazelnut spread or chocolate frosting for a different flavor.
- Store pumpkin bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
