This Quick & Easy Naan Bread Recipe uses only two main ingredients—self-rising flour and plain Greek yogurt—to create soft, fluffy naan bread in just minutes. Perfect for a quick side dish or snack, these naan breads are cooked on the stovetop for a light golden crust and can be enhanced with a touch of melted butter and fresh chives.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 naan breads

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups Self Rising Flour
  • Optional – A Pinch of Sea Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt

For Cooking and Serving

  • Splash of Olive Oil (for sauteing)
  • Melted Butter (for brushing)
  • Chives (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix: In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour with the plain Greek yogurt. Add a pinch of sea salt if desired. Use your hands to thoroughly mix the ingredients until they come together into a soft dough ball.
  2. Shape: Lightly flour a wooden kitchen surface and sprinkle some flour onto the dough ball as well. Flatten the dough and divide it into 6-8 portions, shaping each portion into a naan-shaped flatbread.
  3. Saute: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a splash of olive oil. Once the skillet is hot, place a piece of dough in the pan. Cook for about 3 minutes on one side until golden, then flip and cook the other side for another 3 minutes.
  4. Cool and Serve: Remove the cooked naan bread from the pan and place it onto a cooling rack. Brush lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped chives for extra flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use self-rising flour for best results; if unavailable, mix all-purpose flour with baking powder and salt.
  • Plain Greek yogurt adds moisture and tanginess, making the naan soft without yeast.
  • Cooking time may vary slightly depending on stove and pan used.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheated on a skillet.
  • Optional toppings like garlic butter or sesame seeds can be added for extra flavor.
