Ingredients
Beef and Seasoning
- 2-3 pound chuck roast
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ cups Arby’s sauce, plus more for topping
Cheese and Bread
- 1 cup cheddar cheese sauce (Ricos brand recommended)
- 6 onion rolls
Instructions
- Prepare the Slow Cooker: Place the 2-3 pound chuck roast in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker to start building the base of your sandwich filling.
- Season the Roast: Evenly sprinkle 2 teaspoons dried minced onion and 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning over the roast to enhance flavor with savory and aromatic notes.
- Add Sauces: Pour 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce over the roast, followed by 1 ½ cups of Arby’s sauce evenly distributed, which will infuse the beef with its signature tangy and savory taste.
- Slow Cook the Beef: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4 hours until the beef becomes tender and easy to shred.
- Shred the Beef: Once cooked, use two forks to shred the tender beef directly in the slow cooker, mixing it thoroughly with the cooking sauce for maximum flavor.
- Keep Warm: Set the slow cooker to the WARM setting to keep the shredded beef hot and ready for serving.
- Heat Cheese Sauce: Warm 1 cup of cheddar cheese sauce in the microwave until smooth and hot, preparing the cheese topping for the sandwiches.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Pile generous amounts of shredded beef onto the onion rolls. Top with warm cheddar cheese sauce and add extra Arby’s sauce if desired for authentic taste.
Notes
- You can adjust the cooking time based on your slow cooker’s heat settings; low and slow yields the best tenderness.
- For a crispier sandwich, toast the onion rolls before assembling.
- Use leftover shredded beef in wraps or salads for extra meals.
- Substitute cheddar cheese sauce with your favorite cheese spread if desired.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
