This Spicy Thai Noodles recipe combines linguine pasta with a flavorful blend of red pepper flakes, toasted sesame oil, chili paste, soy sauce, and honey for a perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and umami. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a versatile dish that can be served hot, cold, or at room temperature, making it ideal for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 1 lb linguine pasta (or fettuccine, spaghetti, etc.)

Sauce & Seasonings

  • 1/2 – 1 1/2 Tbsp red pepper flakes (adjust to preferred spice level)
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup toasted sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp chili paste
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 6 Tbsp honey

Garnishes (optional)

  • Chopped green onions
  • Chopped peanuts
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garnishes: Chop your choice of garnishes such as green onions, peanuts, or cilantro and set them aside for topping the noodles later.
  2. Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  3. Infuse Oil with Spice: In a large skillet, combine the vegetable oil and toasted sesame oil with the red pepper flakes over medium heat. Heat until the oil is hot and fragrant, then strain out the pepper flakes, reserving the infused oil in a bowl.
  4. Make Sauce: Return the reserved infused oil to the skillet. Add the chili paste and stir in the soy sauce and honey, whisking together until the sauce is well combined and heated through.
  5. Toss Pasta in Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss thoroughly to coat the noodles evenly with the spicy sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the noodles hot, at room temperature, or cold according to your preference. Top with chopped garnishes and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes based on your preferred spice level; start with less and add more if desired.
  • To toast sesame oil yourself, gently heat raw sesame oil over low heat until fragrant.
  • This dish can be made ahead and served cold, making it great for meal prep or picnics.
  • If a gluten-free version is needed, substitute soy sauce with tamari or a gluten-free soy sauce alternative.
  • Garnishes are optional but recommended for added texture and freshness.
