Ingredients
Seasoning Blend
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
Main Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 lb)
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 lemon (thinly sliced)
Creamy Garlic Sauce
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
- 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
- ½ teaspoon corn starch
- Additional lemon wedges, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish: Preheat the oven to 425℉ and lightly grease a 9×13″ baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Make the Seasoning Blend: In a small bowl, combine dried parsley, salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and onion powder, mixing thoroughly.
- Flatten Chicken Breasts: Place chicken breasts on a cutting board and cover with plastic wrap. Use a rolling pin or small frying pan to gently flatten the thickest parts so each breast has an even thickness, promoting uniform cooking.
- Season the Chicken: Arrange the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Brush both sides with oil, then sprinkle the seasoning blend evenly over both sides of each chicken breast.
- Add Lemon Slices and Bake: Lay thin lemon slices over the chicken breasts. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, allowing the lemons to infuse flavor while the chicken begins to cook.
- Prepare Creamy Garlic Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, and corn starch until smooth.
- Add Sauce and Continue Baking: Remove the baking dish from the oven and carefully pour the creamy sauce around the edges of the chicken breasts without disturbing the lemon slices. Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken breasts, until the internal temperature reaches 165℉.
- Serve: Once cooked through, remove from oven and serve the chicken hot. Optionally, garnish with additional lemon wedges for extra brightness and zing.
Notes
- Flattening the chicken ensures even cooking and helps prevent dryness.
- Check the internal temperature of the chicken with a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking.
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a dairy-free cream if preferred, but the sauce will be less rich.
- For a thinner sauce, adjust the amount of cornstarch accordingly or skip it for a looser consistency.
- Adding fresh lemon wedges at serving adds a nice fresh acidity to balance the richness.
